Business value:

With 2023 release wave 1, Swedish localization will be delivered as an extension.

Feature details:

Swedish localization will be delivered as an extension. The solution will offer a data upgrade from the old localization to the new one. This release is a step toward delocalization where ISVs will be able to release their apps for a broader market.

Thumbs up! Microsoft. It's a great approach and we will be looking forward for other localization to be It's out from Base App.

Explanation:

  • When Business Central was born, Microsoft kind of took the C/AL Code and upgraded it as is as business central.
  • With the initial countries where business central was launched localization was part of Base App.

  • With continues updates, Microsoft starts cleaning up base app and introducing new apps, new ways to handle process which is great. But localization was not touched till now.
  • With Next release Swedish Localization will be split from base app as a separate app.

For easier explanation, if you compare BC21 India Release (Localization is a separate app) with Swedish Release it looks like this.

After BC 222, it will look like this.

I am optimistic Microsoft will do it for other countries where localization is part of Base App like NA, CA and other countries.  Great work and I am excited with future with business central.
