Summary of Dynamics Community Summit 2022.

Hi Readers,

It's been a while, but I feel like it's important for me to write about last US Trip for Community Summit NA. #MySummitNA.

A lot happened during this trip, and it surely deserve multiple articles about it. I will try to summarize the whole trip in two blogs.

There are in general learning around product but also life changing event that was part of this trip.

#msdyn365bc, #MySummitNA, #NAVUG, #BCUG

I started my Trip on 30'th September with a plan to give sufficient time to me for handling Jet Lag Issues. I Landed in Newark and took a domestic flight to Denver to meet a friend and ex-colleague @Jon Long.

It was super fantastic week, started with a concert on the same night when I landed in Denver. Jon's Son was part of the Crew and had great modern artwork during the Show.

The Long's family took great care of me. I had Indian food, met Jon's son, wife, mother and brother during this trip. They helped me with Shopping for my daughters. Did kayak one evening. It was easy working from same time zone as my customer. All my meetings were in morning, and I had plenty of time to relax and visit.

Then I few to Orlando, met Mohana Yadav for the first time. We both started our journey toward Gaylord Palms for conference. I was attending summit after 2 years. Community Summit 2022 had 4000 user registrants across all user groups, BC/NAV, AX/F&O, CE/CRM, GP and Power Platform.

Summit Keynotes -

Both the keynotes were great. I surely had few items to learn from both the keynotes.

  • Keynote with Jeff Havens - Uncrapify Your Future.
  • Keynote with Ryan Holiday-Coping with Complexity: The Strategy to Deliver Results in the Face of Obstacles.

04 Fundamentals of the growth process -

  1. Ask the question.
  2. Consider/Think answers and Solutions
  3. Execute those solutions
  4. And last but not least, Repeat!!

Networking -

Due to Covid19, world became virtual. We all found ways to interact virtually. After covid19, few companies' thoughts it's the way forward and its cost effective too. In ArcherPoint we all work remote so virtual world was a reality for us even before covid19. We didn't have to adjust ourselves during #covid19.

We as ArcherPoint understand the value of in-person events, and the best part of events like community Summit is in-person Networking. Meeting new people, learning from people and understanding business gaps for users is only possible in a in-person event.

I always look forward toward the networking part of the event and it was great. Met and did a session with fellow MVP @AJ Ansari. Met @mohana, @Erick, @Meenakshi Singh, @Suzanne Scanlan and other colleagues, customers, partners and friend in person.

Sessions -

There are a lot of sessions for all 6 tracks in Community summit NA. Customers, Partners had put a lot of efforts in preparing for those sessions. It was very hard to filter out sessions that you would like to attend. There were overlapping sessions where you find yourself running from one to another session. Thank you to the speakers for being prepared to share.

My Sessions -

During Planning for summit, I was thinking to do an academy class and 1 session. But due to busy schedule I dropped the idea to do an Academy class this year and focused on sessions.

This year I prepared 04 sessions & 1 Ask the Expert session for Summit NA titled as -

  • A Business Central Cornucopia Reporting, Emailing, APIs, and Performance
  • Deprecating Features & Universal Code in Business Central
  • The True Easy Button - AL to AL Upgrades
  • Upgrade Tricks and Treats Learn to Make Upgrades Easier
  • BC/NAV Technical - Ask the Experts

But due to some issues, one of my colleagues was not able to join us in Summit. So, I took her session "Upgrade Gotchas: Things to Know Before You Upgrade to Business Central".

I have already blogged about one of my sessions with maximum attendee. If you would like to read it, then Read on ArcherPoint Website

ArcherPoint team loves sharing their knowledge with users and peers in the Dynamics community.

ArcherPoint Team presented 15 sessions with 06 expert presenters in Dynamics Community Summit 2022.

What's New for Dynamics Community -

Dynamics Communities is planning to launch a new user community site, DynamicsCommunities.com, where all user groups (UG) will have their content, forums, etc.

One website for all User Groups. Are you an expert who would like to contribute? If yes, then DCI have that planned as "User Group Experts".

Awards?

I will surely miss few names in the Awards category as I was a little bit busy during the announcement. But my colleague @Suzanne Scanlan & Matt T were awarded.

@Meenakshi Singh was awarded as "Summit All Star" this year.

I also received my 2020 pending award "Summit All Star" this year. Congratulations to all the award recipients!

Thank you to my BC community #BCUG, #NAVUG for recognizing my efforts to this community.

When you plan an event like this, you will have some Problems / Issues. Let's talk about those briefly.

Summit App -
The App team was not able to deliver the solution as need for an event like this. Either they didn't plan it for these many logins or some technical issue, but the app is of no use during the event. I had to collect the printed session list every day from the registration desk.

I think Dynamics Community understand that, and hopeful will figure out a better App Provider going forward.

Lack of Planning -

This is the first time where I noticed that Rooms for Session were not finalized till last moment.

In first session from ArcherPoint where we were expecting a full house of attendee, but there were only 2 people other than presenter. Later one of our colleagues called us to check where we are as there is a room full of attendee waiting for presenter.

I was also running during my 3'rd session to find where my new room is as was changed on same day.

Miscommunications -

Microsoft had some Miscommunication during Great Plains General Session around future releases and Transition to BC Plan.

Mike Morton had to clarify that publicly in Linked Post.

In the end, In-person Events like summit are great. You learn a lot in these events.

In 2023, next Dynamics Community Summit is scheduled to happen in North Carolina. It's early for me to commit my travel plans for next year, but I hope I will be there.

BC 21 and Higher - PowerShell Cmdlet (Replacement of Business Central Administration).

Hi Readers, As discussed in last article about deprecating of Business Central Administration, there are few common actions that we use in administration till Business Central 20. For our on-prem customers, we will still require doing activities. As Microsoft suggest we need to start using PowerShell cmdlet.    Let's see how to do those via PowerShell, or Administration Shell. I will be keep adding commands as you comment to this article.
