In this series we will discuss what's new in Business Central 2021 (Wave 2) a.k.a BC19.

This article we will discuss about - New automation API to create user groups Permissions.

With this series we will understand what's new the product and learn it before it becomes available for customers.

Feature Details - 

This contributes to decreasing the total onboarding time of new customers and takes away manual labor on the partner side.

Explanation -

  • Automation APIs provide capability for automating company setup through APIs. There are multiple Automation API which were available till business central 18.

  • With Business Central 19, Microsoft Added a New Automation API to Create User Group Permission in business central tenants.

  • Automation APIs are placed in the microsoft/automation API namespace. 


Automation API's Available till Business Central - 

  • entityDefinitions - Localization Information Used in API.
  • companies - Handle Companies in Tenant.
  • subscriptions - Subscriptions in the tenant.

  • configurationPackages - Upload and Apply a RapidStart Package.
  • file  - Used for Configuration file.
  • automationCompanies - Create or Modify companies in Business Central Tenant.

  • extensions - Installing and uninstalling published add-on extensions.
  • extensionUpload - Upload and install a per-tenant extension.
  • extensionDeploymentStatus - Monitoring extension installation progress.

  • users - Modifying user properties.
  • userPermissions - Assigning permission sets.
  • userGroups - retrieve the list of user groups.
  • userGroupMembers - Assign user permissions and user groups.
  • userGroupPermissions - User Group Permission Management. (* New in BC 19)

  • permissionSets - Manage Permission Set in Business Central Tenant.
  • scheduledJobs - Check the Status of Schedule Jobs.

  • profiles - Profiles Management in Business Central Tenant.(* New in BC 19)
