NAV 2013 R2 - Multiple Sheets in Excel Using Excel Buffer.

Hi all,

In this article we will see the possibility of having Multiple Excel Sheets Using Excel Buffer Export.

The Article is based on request of Mr. Anand gupta, so all thanks to him for the query.

Most of us know how to export data using excel buffer, but it only contain a single sheet. Now let's consider a scenario where i want to export my customers, vendors and Items from Navision in excel.

So its pretty obvious that i want then in different sheets.

I have made some changes in Excel Buffer table to achieve it, let's go through them first and then we will see how to use them in report.

We have a standard function in Excel Buffer table i.e CreateBookAndOpenExcel. What i did is Created two function from the code that was written in this function. Below are the Two Functions.

  1. Only Create Book
  2. Only Open Excel

Now My Sheet can be create in WriteSheet function of Excel Buffer so i added a piece of Code in WriteSheet Function also as shown below.

Below are some Global Variables added in Excel Buffer.

That it. Lets create a report having three data items customer, Item and vendors.Set Report properties to ProcessingOnly to True.
And Below is the code in Every Data Item Trigger.

Above is the Function To Print all sheets Excel header.

Below is the Function To Print Body for all the masters.

Let's run the Report and See Output.

So we have achieved what we were trying to do - Having Multiple Sheet in Excel using Excel Buffer.

You can download the Objects from my SkyDrive OR Mibuso.

BC 21 and Higher - PowerShell Cmdlet (Replacement of Business Central Administration).

Hi Readers, As discussed in last article about deprecating of Business Central Administration, there are few common actions that we use in administration till Business Central 20. For our on-prem customers, we will still require doing activities. As Microsoft suggest we need to start using PowerShell cmdlet.    Let's see how to do those via PowerShell, or Administration Shell. I will be keep adding commands as you comment to this article.

MSDYN365BC - Data Upgrade To Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central on premises.

Hi Readers, We have already talked about the number of steps for upgrading to Business Central on Premises from different NAV versions. After that article, I received multiple requests for an article which list down steps for Data Migration. In this article, we will discuss steps of data migration to MSDYN365BC (on-Prem) from NAV 2017. For this article, I am considering a Cronus Demo Database without any customization. For an actual upgrade project, we will have to complete object merge using compare and Merge process. After the Merge Process, the next step is data migration. Let's discuss those steps. Direct Upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (on-Prem) is from following versions - 1. NAV 2015. 2. NAV 2016. 3. NAV 2017. 4. NAV 2018.
