NAV 2009 Reports - Common Issue & Resolutions..

Hi all,

I know it to late but I wish you all a very Happy  & Prosperous New Year. I am so much busy these days that i can't even make a Blog entry.

So here is the list of points that i will be coming up in next few days (once i will get free) -

As most of us still working on NAV 2009 Reports. Let's figure out the challenges we face during development of RTC Reports.

1) Report Header in First Page Only?
2) Report Header in All Pages?
3) Report Footer in Last Page Only?
4) Report Footer in All Pages?
5) Report Footer in Last Page Bottom Only?
6) Resetting page number while running report for multiple records?

I will be posting entries for all these points, if anyone have any other doubts about RTC Report please add it as comment on this article. I will try to figure out the solution for same and will append the above list.

Let's try to work to RTC reports as easy as it used to be in Classic Version.

NAV 2013 Report Header Doesn't get Printed.

Hi all,

During working on NAV 2013 Report, i faced an issue. The issue was weird so i thought sharing same with all of you.

I created a report with all the same techniques that we used to use till NAV 2009 R2. Everything was fine and was previewing fine.

Just for your information while creating Report Header and Footer i used GetData and SetData as we used till now.

RTC Report Landscape Format without Printer Settings.

Hi all,

In Case of Report Development in Landscape Format, it was behaving wired. In need to select the printer orientation from the printer settings.

But later on i thought about the same and started searching on the web. Then From MSDN i found out that if the report settings in RDLC are done correctly then we don't need to change the printer settings everytime.

How Printed Report Settings Are Determined

IF The settings in the Report Properties dialog box on the layout of the report specify a standard paper size, Then the settings in the Report Properties dialog box on the RDLC layout but is overridden if you change the settings in the Print dialog box.

For more info, you can read the whole article from here.

For Standard Lanscape Page Size these are the setting for RDLC Reports.

Interactive  8.5in, 11in
Margin       1.5cm, 0in, 2cm, 2cm
Page Size    29.7cm, 21cm
Body Size   27.29206cm, 9.16692cm

I hope this issue was faced by most of developers.

Hi all Just a update in same post. The above method works only in NAV 2009 R2 and later. For Printing Report in Landscape Format in NAV 2009 SP1, just apply the hotfix before using above technique.

The hotfix is available for NAV 2009 SP1 here.

RTC Report Page Number - Format x/y

Hi all,

Let see how can we achieve Page Number in RTC Reports as CurrentPage/Total Pages in RTC Reports.

Design any of the standard reports I used purchase invoice, and go to RTC Layout of the report From View - layout.

I have added a new text box in the report Header, then i went to expression by right-clicking on the text box.

TransHeader & TransFooter in RTC Reports

Hi all,

While Trying to figure out something new features in Navision RoleTailored Client, I figured out a blog which i find usefull to share with you all.

Most of the time customer ask for Transheaders and Transfooters in Role Tailored Client(RTC) Reports and we say that it cannot be done as read in microsoft documents.

I tested by creating a report as suggested in the Blog and it worked as expected.
Its is done by using the Hash Table in the Report Code Section.

Please read the complete blog at here.

Show only Date not Date and Time in RTC Reports?

Hi all,
Most of the time client requires only date to be printed in the report, say for the shipment date.
But when we create the report in RTC and set the dataset field for the shipment date we get data and time.

The date in RTC Report shows date and time and that is the standard format.

If you want to show only date then we need to use the Format Property.

Example
Then in Page body click on the expression of the text box which says  “=SalesLine_ShipmentDate” and convert it to =FORMAT(SalesLine_ShipmentDate,"Short Date").

This will only show date.

RTC Report Development 1

Hi all,

we all have some known and unkown issues while creating a Report For Role Tailored Client.
we will try to create a standard report by deleting its Layout and creating a new RDLC Layout from Scratch.

I have saved Standard Report 406 Purchase - Invoice as 5000 Purchase - Invoice 1.
Then i deleted its existing layout by using Tools->Delete Layout.

Now lets create the Layout from Scratch.
Now lets see what Layout suggestion suggest for this report, by using Tools -> Create Layout Suggestion.
