msdyn365bc Preprocessor Directives - Region Directive.

Hi Readers,

In the Introduction article of series we understand different types of Preprocessor  directives available in Business Central.

Preprocessor Directives are available starting Business Central 2020 Release Wave 2.

In this article we will understand how to use Region Directives.

This directives is used for better readability or for focusing on code that you are currently writing. 
What is region Directive?
  • The #region directive is used to mark a block of code that you can expand or collapse.
  • A #region block must be terminated with a #endregion directive.
  • A #region block cannot overlap with an #if block. However, a #region block can be nested in an #if block, and an #if block can be nested in a #region block.
How to Define region Directive?
  • Region Directive starts with #region <Region Name>.
  • Region Directive ends with #endregion.
By Default AL provides us to expand and collapse, areas and triggers but within a trigger you cannot expand and collapse.

That is where region directive plays a key role.
