Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 - What is Brick?

Hi All,

While Trying to Identifying Changes in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016 Table I came across a Property that have been changed with Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016.

Let's see what is that and what is the use of It.

For Already Published Article about  NAV 2016 Click Here.

If you remember a Old article from my Blog Post where we discussed about Field Group Properties.

Till NAV 2015 in Table Field Group we were able to see as shown below -

The DropDown is Used in the Pages when we want to select records from the table. As for the Customer Drop Down it is Used in Sales Order Page when user want to select Sell-to Customer No.

Hope you understand what I meant by above statement. If Not read the Old Article from the Link.

As we all know, we cannot add More Rows in Field Groups.

But what are the values are there when we open Field Group for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016. It's Kind of different as shown below.

So What is This Second Row and The Name is Brick?

What is Brick Field Group in NAV 2016?

As we all know With Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016, introduced a New Client Type i.e. Phone Client.

So when we use Phone Client for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016, the drop down in Phone comes up based on Brick Field Group on the table.

Mark have already shared the information, you can read it here.

Hope you like the information. Do let me know your comments on same.

Stay tuned for more, there is more yet to come in terms of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2016.

MSDYN365BC - Data Upgrade To Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central on premises.

Hi Readers, We have already talked about the number of steps for upgrading to Business Central on Premises from different NAV versions. After that article, I received multiple requests for an article which list down steps for Data Migration. In this article, we will discuss steps of data migration to MSDYN365BC (on-Prem) from NAV 2017. For this article, I am considering a Cronus Demo Database without any customization. For an actual upgrade project, we will have to complete object merge using compare and Merge process. After the Merge Process, the next step is data migration. Let's discuss those steps. Direct Upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (on-Prem) is from following versions - 1. NAV 2015. 2. NAV 2016. 3. NAV 2017. 4. NAV 2018.
